The Company must put a significant emphasis on quality to be successful,, which is why Mack is looking for a quality engineer to join its Southern Division at the Company’s Inman, S.C., facility. Mack’s quality engineers are responsible for acting as source of information regarding customer requirements for auditors, analysts and manufacturing personnel; addressing and resolving quality issues with vendors, customers and company personnel as required; and assisting the activities of quality engineering technicians and quality analysts. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, customer service, purchasing and account management to ensure we achieve Mack’s mission of Total Customer Satisfaction.
Additional responsibilities including performing training for production and quality personnel, facilitating the timely disposition of non-conforming material and assisting with corrective actions, including completing follow-up for effectiveness verification. Quality engineers may represent the department at meetings and serve as a back-up when the quality manager is out of the plant. He/she will act as coordinator for maintaining ISO/IATF compliance, evaluate and recommend process improvements, and plan and perform gage R&Rs.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled problem solver who has familiarity with 5-Why and 8D. He/she must also have detailed knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, as well as a college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. A successful candidate will also have an understanding of core tools such as APQP, MSA, PPAP, FMEA and SPC, as well as possess the ability to read and understand technical drawings. The ability to use lab equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, color meters and digital thickness gages will also be key, along with proficiency in computer programs such as Minitab and spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software.
