While its legacy is as custom injection molding, today Mack Molding is a vertically integrated product development and manufacturing partner that takes ideas from notes on a napkin through prototyping to manufacturing. For customers who are in that middle spot, Gardner-Mass. based Mack Prototype offers rapid tooling and prototyping, as well as low volume molding and manufacturing. The 75,000 square foot facility is perfect for verifying part design and function before investing in tooling. With its CNC machining, fused deposition modeling (FDM), stereolithography, polyurethane molding, extensive model finishing operations, tooling and small-part molding, Mack Proto also is uniquely positioned to create workable units for customers, events or regulatory approval. Learn more about the operation in this new video, or come by booth 1709 at MD&M East this week to discover our entire offering – Mack Medical, Mack Molding, Mack Technologies, Mack Prototype and Synectic Engineering – in person. Let us show you how our vertically integrated services can benefit your business throughout the product life cycle!
Mack Cleans House!
Late spring brings two traditions to Mack Molding – the return of the interns and housekeeping. To help you learn about the latter, we enlisted RPI’s Margaret Smith, Communications Intern, to create a video highlighting how we keep our facilities looking top notch!

Mack Makes Major Investments in Vermont Operations
New Equipment Boosts Sheet Metal and Machining Capabilities at Company’s Headquarters
ARLINGTON, VT. (April 4, 2018) – Mack Molding has welcomed spring with capital investments at its Vermont-based headquarters.
The leading custom plastics molder and supplier of contract manufacturing services continues to experience heightened commercial activity, and the new equipment is geared toward meeting current needs and future opportunities.
“We are seeing a significant wave of new product development, the most in a decade,” Mack President Jeff Somple said. “From robots to 3D printers to new medical devices, our customers have put their confidence in Mack’s manufacturing expertise and the experience of our team. With the tax laws making it easier to facilitate these types of investments the time was right to commission the tools we need to ensure success for Mack and our customers.”
The largest pieces of equipment were recently delivered to Mack’s headquarters in Arlington, Vt., including a new, fully automated laser for sheet metal fabrication and two computerized machining centers.
These build on additions Mack made in 2017 that expanded the specialty materials and thickness of gauges that can be handled while increasing the capacity to meet customers’ milling and turning demands. Each investment also benefits the Company’s business model of bringing value to customers through a full suite of vertically integrated services.
According to Somple, Mack had planned ahead for the possibility for tax reform by creating a list of infrastructure needs that could be met under the right conditions.
“While the new laser and machining centers represent our most visible investments, we have seized the opportunity to make a number of improvements at all our Vermont facilities to meet our day-to-day operational needs,” he noted. “When you consider we have been hiring new talent across the organization as well, it is an exciting time for our business.”
