Mack Molding has an opening for a metrologist at its Headquarters in beautiful southern Vermont. Mack’s metrologists ensure parts are in compliance with customer specifications, ISO requirements and/or customer component quality requirements. As the manufacturing arm for our customers this is a critical role that contributes to the Company’s goal of total satisfaction. It also presents an exciting opportunity to help some of the top fortune 500 companies to launch new products, or start-up companies with cutting-edge technologies.
Responsibilities include using measuring devices, applying basic mathematical equations, and assisting in dimensional/process investigations for manufactured and purchased products. Within this role the metrologist maintains open lines of communication regarding quality issues within departments, including maintaining various logs, creating reports and following up on issues and may recommend any required modifications to product based on dimensional analysis. Additionally, she/she performs a variety of quality tests and product verification procedures while utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to read prints. In addition to performing basic calibration, capability studies and first articles, the metrologist also programs the Coordinate Measuring Machine and Vision system.
The ideal candidate will have an associate degree in a technical or engineering field, though a high school diploma or GED plus two years of related work experience may be considered. A successful candidate will have working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and internet software. He or she must also have strong math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. This also includes the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
