The Company’s engineers are the minds behind our success, and as a Tool Design Engineer you will be responsible for planning and directing complex engineering design and development projects to support a number of customer programs through all phases on innovation and development.
Responsibilities include developing new tools and designs, as well as overseeing the modification of existing tools, jigs, fixtures and machines that must meet specialized design and performance specifications. He/she must also interpret customer specifications such as 3D part geometry, GD&T and material selections for the successful design, build, sampling and production launch of injection molding tooling. Additionally, the design engineer provides engineering support, work direction and technical expertise to lower-level department personnel; analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data relating to product design; and performs various customer service and project management activities, assuring Mack achieves its mission of achieving Total Customer Satisfaction. Further responsibilities include providing engineering support during samplings from preparation through follow-up; interfacing with manufacturing regarding design and engineering issues; and managing critical information, including blueprints, production print check sheets, engineering change orders and other correspondence.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, along with three to five years of experience in engineering and/or design. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. To perform this job successfully, candidates should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, development, design, CAD and project management software, along with order processing systems. He/She should be prepared for frequent travel between plants, as well as occasional domestic and international trips.
