We are looking to add a tool engineer to our talented team of professionals. As a business with molding at its core, Mack relies on the expertise, experience and design acumen of its tool engineer to be part of the new business development team. Tool engineers support all new business activity with customer design reviews and design for manufacturing analysis, as well as developing and managing molds. Travel is required.
You would work in our application development center at Mack’s headquarters facility in Arlington, Vt. This position is at the center of it all, and you will be part of all product launch teams, develop tool specs, review part design and tool design, manage tool construction, as well as have responsibility for samplings through to product approval. In addition, you would support three internal molding facilities with process optimization and efficiency.
Our goal is nothing less than Total Customer Satisfaction, and you will have significant access to the breadth of the organization, working with the engineering and manufacturing organizations at all levels to help the team reach that goal.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in plastics or mechanical engineering
- Have 5+ years experience in molding making, tool engineering or design
- Provide technical support to business development team
- Be involved in DFM/FMEA activities, both internally and with customers
- Coordinate mold design reviews with tool vendors
- Be responsible for management of 3rd party mold makers
- Coordinate with other team members as needed during mold qualification, sampling and final part approval
- Coordinate implementation of cost effective tool design changes
- Provide status reports to management and customers as needed
- Have the ability to manage multiple project at a time
- Be involved in troubleshooting issues with production molds
- Develop outside tooling sources as needed
