One of the highlight’s of Mack’s headquarters in Arlington, Vt., is its community garden where employees can grow everything from flowers to vegetables to fresh herbs. The gardens produce quite the bounty during the growing season while bolstering Mack’s broader efforts to be a sustainable manufacturer and a good shepherd of the environment.
Caring for 15 4’x8’ raised garden beds can be a lot of work, however, especially when the first frosts settle on the Green Mountains.
That’s where Arlington Memorial High School students have stepped in to lend a hand in the past, and 2016 was no exception. On Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, as part of the school’s annual Day of Community Service, ninth graders Joe Price and Matthew Ritchie joined Math Teacher Marshall Cross to weed and prep the Mack gardens for the coming winter.
Joe and Matt represent just two of the many talented and civic-minded middle- and high school-aged students who went out into the Arlington, Sunderland and Sandgate communities to help make a difference – and for that Mack gives thanks!
