Mack Prototype Focuses On Its Future
Under the leadership of new President Greg Cebular Mack Prototype is taking a hard look at its future, with an eye toward what customers are looking for in modern, low-volume manufacturing services.
As part of this process, Cebular recently invited five students from the Tufts entrepreneurship program to help the team get more insights into the competitive landscape.
The students – Frank Hua, Robert Ranalli, Spencer Alligood, Ciaran Hourihan and Tanner Gordon – were part of a marketing course taught by legendary entrepreneur Jack Derby that puts students in real life experiences to hone their business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. CEO of Derby Management, Derby also is a professor at Tufts. He has a long history of running strategy sessions with Mack leadership, and the Company has sent members of its business development team to his sales management bootcamp.
As part of the project, the team conducted voice of the customer surveys, talked with current and past customers, as well as design firms, to learn about their experience with Mack Proto and how the company stacks up against its competition. They then paired their findings with competitive landscape research to conduct a SWOT analysis that will help build a roadmap to the organization’s future.
Key findings included improving the way customers can interact with the company digitally. Their research will lead to website enhancements aimed at fostering greater ease of use for customers seeking to upload files and obtain quotes, which Mack Proto plans to incorporate with its updated website planned for later this year.
An expert in traditional manufacturing technologies, such as injection molding and CNC machining, as well as modern additive manufacturing platforms, Cebular is bringing new energy to the organization. In addition to the marketing insights developed by the Tufts team, he is preparing to bring new technologies and services to Mack Proto’s portfolio.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of Mack Molding, Mack Proto offers 75,000 square feet of manufacturing in an ISO 13485 certified environment specializing in low-volume manufacturing, including rapid prototyping, such as 3D printing for small and large parts; rapid moldmaking; low-volume, small-part injection molding; CNC machining; cast urethane molding; and extensive painting and finishing operations.
As Mack Prototype evolves in the coming months we will keep you posted on each exciting stage!
