FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ARLINGTON, Vt. – Mack Molding’s Northern Operations, including plants in Pownal, Cavendish, East Arlington, and Arlington, Vt., has been independently audited and certified as having met the updated ISO 9001:2000 standard for excellence in quality management created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a prestigious network of national standards institutes from 148 countries. National Quality Assurance (NQA), USA, an accredited registrar, carried out the third-party assessment and certification.
One of the first injection molders in the United States to achieve the previous ISO 9002 standard in the early ’90s, Mack long ago made ISO standards the underpinning of its quality management system. “We’ve been actively measuring total customer satisfaction on an annual basis for nearly a decade now,” says Carl Bickford, director of quality. “We gauge our performance against a matrix of criteria, including on-time deliveries, continuous quality improvement efforts, and meeting or exceeding customer expectations, which we regularly measure through customer surveys. Since one of the major components of the ISO 9001:2000 standard is a system for measuring customer satisfaction, we were already well on our way toward compliance without making major changes.”
“Given the sophistication of our customer base and the products they manufacture, certification to the latest ISO standard is a requirement for doing business with them,” adds Jeff Somple, president of Mack’s Northern Operations. “It means we have a quality system in place that meets or exceeds an internationally recognized standard. It relieves customers from the obligation and cost of conducting their own quality audits, which saves them time and money. And it assures them that we are continually driving toward quality system improvement.”
In addition to Mack’s ongoing internal audits of its quality and manufacturing management systems, NQA, USA will assess the company’s performance against the new ISO standard every six months to insure continuing compliance.
