Mack Molding – Custom Manufacturing & Injection Molding for the Defense Industry
Supporting Mission-Critical Applications with Precision & Reliability
Mack Molding’s commitment to supporting critical applications dates back to World War II, when the company shifted production to aid the war effort—manufacturing mortar shell casings, mess trays, and other essential components. That same mindset – precision, reliability, and readiness when it matters most – continues to define our custom defense manufacturing work today.
Building on that legacy, Mack Molding brings decades of manufacturing expertise to defense-related applications, supporting programs that demand durability, performance, and absolute consistency. From ruggedized components to complex assemblies, we partner with customers to deliver solutions engineered for demanding environments.
Our vertically integrated model – combining engineering support, advanced manufacturing, and full program management – enables us to move seamlessly from concept through production with speed, control, and accountability.
Capabilities for Custom Defense Manufacturing Applications
We support a wide range of defense-related programs, including:
- Optical and targeting systems (e.g., laser-based and vision-enabled devices)
- Aerospace and naval components
- Launcher systems and components
- Unmanned and autonomous systems, including unmanned aerial systems (UAS), drones, and associated components and launch platforms, from 3D-printed MJF parts to injection-molded production runs
- Firearm and tactical equipment components
Our experience spans both development and production, enabling us to support early-stage design through full-scale manufacturing.
Vertically Integrated Custom Defense Manufacturing
Mack delivers a comprehensive set of in-house capabilities tailored to defense applications:
- Plastic Injection Molding, including complex geometries, high-performance materials, and part conversion initiatives
- Painting & Finishing, including cosmetic and protective coatings for durability, environmental resistance, and mission-critical performance
- Machining & Sheet Metal Fabrication, supporting precision-machined and fabricated components for structural and functional applications
- 3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping, including HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology for functional prototypes, complex geometries, and low-volume production of end-use components
- Design & Development, including test fixtures, supporting validation, inspection, and repeatable quality
- Assembly & Program Management, providing full-service support from prototype through production
- Electronics Integration, including printed circuit board (PCB) assembly through our sister company, Mack Technologies, enabling a more complete electromechanical solution
- Engineering Support & Adjacent Expertise, drawing on our teams’ experience in robotics and automation to support sophisticated defense applications such as motor and motion system integration, LiDAR and vision components, camera housings and optical assemblies, and precision calibration and testing
As additive manufacturing becomes an increasingly important production option for defense applications, Mack offers the flexibility to support both development and end-use components. Through Mack Prototype, our HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) capabilities provide an efficient option for producing complex, lightweight PA12 nylon parts without traditional tooling, particularly valuable for evolving designs, lower production volumes, and applications such as unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and drone components. Post-processing options, including dyeing, vapor smoothing, polishing, and painting, deliver finished, end-use-ready parts. As programs scale, designs can transition from MJF to production injection molding within the Mack family of companies, without changing suppliers.
Quality, Compliance & Security
Mack Molding operates to rigorous quality and compliance standards required for defense-related work:
- ITAR Registered
- NIST SP 800-171 compliant (CMMC Level 2, Self-Assessed)
- ISO 9001 Certified
- JCP Certification
- MLOA Hardware Tokens for Secure Defense OEM Portal and File Access
- AS9100 Certification expected in early 2027
We maintain strict controls around data security, documentation, and process integrity to meet customer and regulatory expectations.
