CAVENDISH, Vt. – Jay Merrill has joined Mack’s Cavendish, Vt., plant as materials manager.
Most recently, he was continuous improvement manager for the Manufacturing Partnership at UMASS Boston, where he was responsible for work force training and implementation of lean business systems at small- to medium-size businesses.
Earlier, he served a 10-year stint with Freudenberg-NOK, the American partnership of the world’s largest producers of elastomeric seals and custom molded products. While there, he managed several areas, including purchasing, operations and logistics.
Merrill holds an MBA from New Hampshire College, Manchester, N.H., and a bachelor’s from Plymouth State College, Plymouth, N.H. He is also an APICS Certified CPIM and a Six Sigma Green Belt, and has trained and consulted in lean manufacturing techniques.
