Mack’s latest addition to its vertical integration portfolio is a full-service Machining Center. Located at the headquarters plant, the new service meets a growing demand from existing customers for milling and turning work. Our goals are to minimize customer supplier lists, further compress lead times, and improve cost competitiveness.
As the Machining Center matures, so will its scope, ultimately including standalone machining sales/services. Until then, Mack will focus primarily on satisfying the milling, turning and machining requirements of current customers in the medical device, orthopedic and business equipment markets.
Launched in 2010, the primary equipment purchases include Mazak turning and machining centers and Citizen Swiss lathes. The Mazak Integrex has advanced multi-tasking technology that allows it to perform high-powered turning and full-function machining in a single setup. Supporting our original goals, this capability reduces lead time for our customers and allows us to produce small lot sizes in a cost-efficient manner. Part accuracy is also improved by eliminating multiple setups.
The Citizen Swiss lathes feature an additional subspindle axis, allowing for simultaneous front- and back-end machining. Coupled with rapid feed rates, this significantly reduces cycle times. Currently, parts are milled and/or machined primarily from stainless steel, aluminum, low carbon steel and plastics.
All machining centers and lathes have fully integrated CAD/CAM systems that allow the customer to see the actual process before the first piece of material is cut. Please go to the Capabilities page for more equipment details.
