Mack Announces New Hires and Promotions

ARLINGTON, Vt. (Feb. 11, 2020) – Mack Molding has announced several new additions to the team, as well as the advancement of internal team members, in the areas of quality, business development, customer management, manufacturing, purchasing and human resources.

“Renewed interest in U.S. manufacturing continues to drive not only program growth at Mack, it has allowed to us attract and retain top talent,” said Mack Molding President Jeff Somple. “As we prepare to celebrate our 100th Anniversary, these manufacturing and engineering professionals will help ensure we are well positioned to serve our customers for another hundred years.”

Lewis JobsonLewis Jobson has joined Mack’s quality team as a quality assurance manager, leading external audit coordination and overseeing the Northern Division internal audit program. Lewis brings eight years of quality experience to the role. He most recently served as sr. compliance specialist in the automation department at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Rensselaer, N.Y., where he honed his regulatory knowledge on matters related to U.S. Food and Drug Administration, European Medicine Agency, and ISO 9001 and 13485, as well as ensured compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices. He is a U.S. Army Veteran, and has an associate degree in mathematics/science from Columbia Greene Community College in Hudson, N.Y.

Shannon HildebranShannon Hildebran has joined the business development team as business development manager responsible for new account growth in the Carolinas, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and Utah. He previously served as a Mack South account manager, handling all aspects of relationships from corporate contracts to engineering activities. He has a deep familiarity with resins, having gained significant plastics and sales experience as a sales engineer with Omni Plastics in Evansville, Ind., Mid-Atlantic sales representative for Polymer Resources LTD in Stamford, Conn., and as an inside sales/customer service rep for GE Plastics. He has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Charles MullerCharles Muller has been appointed as a program manager in the sales and engineering department at Mack Headquarters, with responsibilities for planning, product realization, team leadership, sales growth and cost management for new and existing customers. Charlie brings significant medical device experience to Mack, having previously served as a senior packaging engineer for Zimmer Biomet in Parsippany, N.J., where he designed and documented labeling, managed package performance testing and lead CAPA investigations. He began his tenure with Biomet as a product development engineer, and also built engineering expertise as a development engineer with Howmedica. Charlie has a bachelor of science degree in materials engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Violet CastorThe manufacturing engineering team at Mack Headquarters has welcomed Violet Castor as a manufacturing engineer. She will be responsible for shepherding programs from concept through prototyping and clinical evaluations to phase in and ramp up. Prior to Mack, Violet held a research assistant position with the University of California, San Diego, where she helped research and develop a 2D cell flow cytometer that could image cells at high throughput. She previously had a similar role at the Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont, Calif. Violet has a master of science degree in electrical engineering, medical devices and systems, from the University of California, San Diego, as well as a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

James HoldenJames Holden has accepted the position of manufacturing engineer on the Headquarters manufacturing engineering team. Prior to Mack, James worked as a mechanical engineer at Fafco Inc. in Chico, Calif., where he gained valuable experience in molding, machining, designing and manufacturing. He developed manufacturing processes for a new hybrid solar panel, as well as helped design production-ready components for the solar thermal industry. James has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from California State University, Chico, as well as an associate of science degree in automotive technology from the Arizona Automotive Institute.

Ian AventIan Avent has joined the quality team at Mack Headquarters as a quality engineer with responsibility for compliance with our customers’ quality requirements. Before joining Mack, Ian was a quality engineer for Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics in Granville, N.Y., where we worked with polyurethane foam, PVC adhesives and medical bandages. Prior to that, he was a consultant for the publishing industry, with a particular focus on providing various IT, project and workflow management and optimizations, and site and app development in relation to e-books. A graduate of Marlboro College, Ian has a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

Diana DreherThe quality team at Mack Headquarters has appointed Diana Dreher to the position of quality engineer. Before joining Mack, Diana served as a quality assurance manager at Vishay Intertechnology in Bennington, Vt., where she was responsible for ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction, while also managing programs to meet product performance standards and maintain company certifications. She previously gained significant quality and engineering experience with Energizer Holdings in Bennington, Vt. Diana has an MBA from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., as well as a bachelor of science degree in production operations management from Plattsburgh State University in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

David PuskarThe quality team at Mack Headquarters welcomes David Puskar as a quality engineer. Before joining Mack, David most recently worked in quality assurance for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn., where he performed metallurgic testing and quality control of hollow fan blades for military aircraft engines. He also implemented a frequency based sampling plan and participated on machine/process qualifications. David previously gained quality and engineering experience working in quality assurance at 3M Purification in Stafford, Conn. He has a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass.

Seth PeelerSeth Peeler has been appointed as a supplier engineer with the purchasing department at Mack Headquarters. Seth will be responsible for conducting preliminary purchased part risk assessments, lead-time and cost estimates, and identifying and qualifying outside manufacturing partners for Mack’s medical customers. Prior to Mack, Seth was most recently a logistics coordinator for NAPA Transportation Inc. in Mechanicsburg, Penn., where he tracked shipments, brokered loads through carrier communications, and handled customer shipment updates and care. He was also a research assistant for Pennsylvania’s Lock Haven University’s Department of Geology and Physics. A graduate of the school, Seth has a bachelor of science degree in physics.

Brittany BerardBrittany Berard has accepted the position of business development coordinator on the business development team. Within this role Brittany will be based at Headquarters where she will assist the field-based business development team by providing support for quoting, customer relationship management (CRM) through Salesforce and various marketing initiatives aimed at driving new account growth. She has been part of the Mack family, serving as a sales service representative since April 2013, working with customers on order management, delivery schedules and complaints and returns.

Asa BaconAsa Bacon has been appointed as a program coordinator on the Sales & Engineering team at Mack Headquarters. He will be responsible for maintaining program schedules and records, facilitating document control tasks and interfacing with customers. Asa has held several positions since joining the Mack family as a finisher in 2013, including warehouse utility, production planner and manufacturing administrator. Most recently he served as a sales service representative in the Sales & Engineering Department. An Arlington native and third generation Mack employee, prior to Mack he was facilities manager for the Hill Farm Inn in Sunderland, Vt. He also served nearly six years in the U.S. Army as a sergeant, cavalry scout and team leader.

Amber LundbergAmber Lundberg also has been named a program coordinator in the Headquarters Sales & Engineering department after serving as a sales administrator on the team since 2017. Prior to Mack she held roles of increasing responsibility at Big Bear Natural Foods in Morrisville, Penn., and Ewing, N.J., including assistant manager and store manager. Additionally, Amber built significant customer service expertise as a team captain with Merry Maids, as well as in the healthcare and restaurant industries. She holds a master of science degree in sustainable management from the University of Wisconsin Stout and a bachelor of science in environmental management from the University of Phoenix.

Kristin DowneyKristin Downey has joined Headquarters’ sales and engineering team as a sales service representative, handling front line interactions with customers. She’ll work in tandem with a program manager as the customer relationship team, with responsibilities for order management, price list management, coordination of shipping and schedule confirmation between our plants and customers, as well as for providing document control, billing and account receivable support. Kristin honed her people and organizational skills while working in retail. Most recently, she held a leadership position at Theory in Manchester, Vt.

Allyson YannotiThe Sales & Engineering team at Mack Headquarters is pleased to welcome Allyson Yannotti as a sales service representative. Allyson has held several positions with the organization since joining the Mack family in 2012, including finisher and material expeditor. Most recently she has served as a production planner since 2015, with responsibility for leading quarterly and year-end inventories, as well as assisting customers with their production needs. The customer service, time management and problem solving skills she developed in these positions will serve her well.

Renee ZobelRenee Zobel is joining the department as a sales service representative after serving the organization as a consultant working with Mack’s manufacturing planners since February 2019. Renee brings significant interpersonal communication skills to the role, having built project planning and budget management experience in both corporate and higher education settings. Prior to Mack, she worked as a develop manager for the Southern Vermont Arts Center. Renee also served as a member of the Alumni Board of Marymount College of Fordham University.

Jonathan Whitney Appointed to Top Sales Role at Mack

Company Combines Northern & Southern Divisions’ Business Development Teams

ARLINGTON, Vt. (Oct. 9, 2018) – Mack Molding, a leading custom plastics molder and supplier of contract manufacturing services, announced today it is uniting the business development teams of its Northern and Southern divisions under the leadership of Jonathan Whitney, the Company’s director of business development. Within this role Whitney joins Mack’s senior staff, reporting directly to President Jeff Somple with dotted-line responsibility to Mack South President Bryan Campbell.

“Jon is a seasoned member of the Mack family and an accomplished engineer,” Somple said. “During his tenure with us he has consistently shown a keen ability to target new markets, driving sales growth and increased diversity in our customer base. Unifying our sales teams under Jon not only reflects his contributions to the organization, it allows us to bring increased focus and strategic execution to the prospecting and onboarding of new customers.”

Whitney, who has served as the director of business development for the Company’s Northern Division since 2016, first joined Mack in 2013 as a business development manager for New England. An expert in contract manufacturing, plastics and medical devices, he previously was a senior project manager for the design, development and commercialization of cardiovascular devices at Abiomed. He gained other engineering experience at Olympus, Alkermes and Raytheon, where he earned a green belt six-sigma certification. Whitney has an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.; a masters in engineering management from Tufts University in Boston; and a bachelors in plastics engineering from UMass Lowell.

Growing Molder & Contract Manufacturer Recruiting at a Steady Pace

ARLINGTON, Vt. (June 13, 2017) – Spring has sprung in the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont, bringing with it hues of the state’s namesake and a new crop of employees to Mack Molding’s headquarters ready to deliver on the Company’s mission of total customer satisfaction.

The addition of new talent coincides with investments in capital equipment, bolstering a period of growth that promises to position Mack to ensure the Company, and its customers’, success well into the future. The Company’s newest recruits include five former interns who have chosen to officially begin their careers with Mack. The internship program is the keystone of the Company’s workforce development efforts, and a testament to its success as 11 students have now returned to the Company full time in the last two years.

“Welcoming interns back to us full-time after the commencement season is starting to become a tradition,” said Mack Molding President Jeff Somple. “It is a rewarding and valuable experience as they bring a unique combination of fresh insights and familiarity with our organization. While we often focus on the success of Mack’s mobilization of the industry’s next generation, it is important to note we are filling positions at all levels of experience and across the organization. The business has seen four consecutive years of excellent growth, and recruiting high-quality, skilled professionals and engineers is key to maintaining that momentum. It is an exciting time here, and with dozens of positions being filled from the shop floor to engineering to the front office, the time is right start your career with Mack.”

Former intern Tracy Weinstein is no stranger to the Mack, bringing a deep familiarity with the Company and its processes to her new position as a manufacturing engineer. Tracy earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y., with minors in general psychology and marketing. The manufacturing experience and medical product insight she garnered during her tenure as an intern, coupled with the knowledge she gained as a student at RPI, will serve her well in this new position.

Mack has welcomed Casey Magrath as a business development manager. A recent graduate of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Casey has a bachelor of science degree in management engineering with a concentration in chemistry. She is currently working on her master of science degree in management at WPI. Prior to joining the Company full time, she was a Mack intern, developing valuable product development and validation experience while working with orthopedic customers. Casey also developed her sales and relationship development skills as an athenahealth intern in Watertown, Mass.

Trevor Pollock joined Mack as a supplier quality technician in March 2017 and was recently promoted to supplier engineer, ensuring Mack suppliers meet customers’ quality expectations. Prior to Mack, Trevor designed an energy system for a landfill gas power plant and assembled a grant proposal for research on the effect of a gene on bone loss during space flight at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he received his master of science in mechanical engineering. Trevor also has a bachelor of arts in mathematics with minors in physics and economics from Vermont’s Middlebury College.

Kyle Pilote has been appointed as a supplier engineer within the purchasing organization. Prior to Mack, Kyle served as maintenance and facilities manager at NSK in Bennington, Vt., where he was previously a manufacturing engineer. He also was a manufacturing engineer for Allred Associates and Val-Tech Holdings. Kyle has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. As a supplier engineer, he will ensure Mack customers receive the highest quality parts.

Colin Derby, who spent two years in Mack’s internship program, has joined the Company full-time as an associate manufacturing engineer. A graduate of Randolph-based Vermont Technical College, he earned his associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology and bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology. In addition to his Mack internship, Colin gained manufacturing and machining experience during internships at Plasan Carbon Composites, Kaman Aero Space and Abacus Automation.

Cody LaFlamme has joined Mack’s purchasing team as a cost estimator; however, he first entered the doors as an intern in 2014. During his tenure as an intern, Cody became familiar with Mack’s supplier base while gaining experience in ERP navigation, as well as quality and risk assessments. A graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego, he has a bachelor’s degree in technology management with minors in business administration and athletic coaching.

Castleton University graduate Alex Hawley has accepted a position as a manufacturing clerk. Alex, who received a bachelor of business administration with a dual concentration in marketing and management, is already a familiar face around the office having spent four summers interning for Mack. As an intern, he worked on bills of materials, inventoried products and assisted the metal fabrication team while building keen insights into Mack’s operations.

(June. 14, 2016) – Mack Molding, a leading custom plastics molder and supplier of contract manufacturing services, announced today Jonathan Whitney, a seasoned Mack sales team member and experienced engineer specializing in plastics and medical devices, has been promoted to director of business development.

“Since he first arrived at Mack, Jon has played a significant role in shaping our diverse customer base,” said Mack Molding Sales & Engineering Vice President Joan Magrath. “He came to us with great depth of knowledge in plastics and medical devices, as well as contract manufacturing. That breadth, coupled with Jon’s business and technical strengths, helped drive growth in several key markets. Jon is a valuable contributor, and this promotion highlights his talents and the strategic insight he will provide as we look to target new industries and technologies.”

Whitney, who joined Mack in 2013 as a business development manager for the New England region, will report to Magrath and be responsible for developing new accounts and sales growth for Mack’s northern operations along with management of its business development team. Additionally, he will liaise with internal and external design resources on business development matters.

Prior to Mack, he was senior project manager for the design, development and commercialization of cardiovascular devices at Abiomed. Other engineering experience was earned during his service at Gyrus ACMI, Alkermes and Raytheon, where he earned a green belt six-sigma certification. Whitney holds an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.; a masters in engineering management from Tufts University in Boston; and a bachelors in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Marc Colety Promoted to Vice President of Procurement at Mack

ARLINGTON, Vt. (Aug. 18, 2015) – Mack Molding, a leading custom plastics molder and supplier of contract manufacturing services, announced today Marc Colety, a 20 year veteran of the Company, has been promoted to vice president of procurement.

“Whether his focus was on molding, manufacturing, plant operations or most recently procurement, Marc’s impact has been significant throughout his tenure,” said Mack Molding President Jeff Somple. “Since taking the procurement helm in 2010 he has boosted the department’s value – adding staff to meet growth demands, conducting contract negotiations and leveraging the synergies of our northern and southern operations to the benefit of the entire Company. Marc has continually proven to be a solid contributor to Mack’s success, and this promotion is a testament to not only Marc’s talents, but the growing importance of his team to our growth strategy. I look forward to continuing to benefit from his leadership.”

Prior to serving in his most recent role as director of procurement, Mr. Colety was plant manager for the Company’s Cavendish, Vt., facility. Before joining Mack, he developed his leadership skills with Textron Inc. and Davidson Rubber Company. In all, Mr. Colety has more than 35 years of experience in operations, engineering, materials, purchasing and supply chain management in automotive, business equipment, furniture, industrial, commercial and medical markets. Beyond his degree in business administration, Mr. Colety has trained in numerous quality, lean, management and statistical techniques.
