FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ARLINGTON, Vt. (February 11, 2014) – Mack has added talent across multiple operations and plant locations, including purchasing, sales & engineering, manufacturing and quality.
Three engineers have joined the procurement department, including Ted Beyer, medical supply chain manager; and Adam Brooks and Marguerite Farahmand, supplier engineers.
Beyer brings over 25 years of medical device manufacturing and engineering experience to MackMedical, where he manages the supply chains for medical devices. Most recently, he was a manufacturing engineer with Covidien (Argyle, N.Y.), and was responsible for engineering support for multiple production lines. Earlier, he was with Angiodynamics (Latham, N.Y.), where he held a number of increasingly responsible product development and R&D positions. A graduate of New York State University, Beyer earned degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration. He holds 10 medical device patents, with six more pending.
Adam Brooks, supplier engineer, is a biomedical engineer by training, and will be focused on medical device accounts for MackMedical. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, N.Y.), where he is also pursuing a master’s in the same field. He will graduate this May. During his academic career, Brooks also served as chief technology officer for a start-up company that developed a prosthesis for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The project won First Place in the Regional New York Business Plan Competition, sponsored by the State of New York, Center for Economic Growth, and Third Place in the state.
Marguerite Farahmand, supplier engineer, has joined Mack from Cardinal Health Puerto Rico, where she validated new components for suction reservoirs and wound drains. Before that, she was a manufacturing engineer at St. Jude Medical, also in Puerto Rico. So far, her biggest challenge in relocating to Vermont is staying warm! A graduate of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, Farahmand earned a bachelor’s in industrial engineering and a master’s in manufacturing engineering in quality management. She has completed internships at both Kimberly-Clark and Ethicon LLC (Johnson & Johnson).
Two new employees have joined sales & engineering, including John Baker and Jackie Garrison. Hired as program manager within the orthopedics & medical disposables business unit, Baker is actually a Mack alum – his first stint with the company was in the late ’90s as a quality engineer. More recently, he worked for EchoStar Corporation (Englewood, Colo.), as a manufacturing program manager responsible for NPI production readiness at contract manufacturing locations in China, India, Mexico and Brazil. He brings 18 years of experience to Mack in both program and quality management. A graduate of Ball State University (Muncie, Ind.), Baker holds a bachelor’s in manufacturing engineering technology.
Jackie Garrison has joined Mack as a sales service representative within the commercial business unit. Previously, she was with Arlington Family Practice for five years, where she provided administrative, clinical and medical record support. A veteran of the Vermont Army National Guard, Garrison served as unit supply specialist, Rank: SPC4, for eight years before being honorably discharged in May 2008.
Manufacturing has hired two engineers – Chris Winskowicz and Seth Yellin — both at the headquarters plant. Winskowicz comes to Mack from UTC Aerospace Systems (Vergennes, Vt.). He is serving as a manufacturing engineer for one of MackMedical’s Class III medical device accounts. A graduate of the University of Vermont (Burlington), he holds a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering.
Seth Yellin comes to Mack from IBM (Essex, Vt.), where he worked as utility plant and building engineer. He is working as a manufacturing engineer for the f’real blender account. Yellin also graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering.
Joining the quality department as a quality engineer is Christopher Anderson. Formerly, he was product quality complaint investigator for Haemonetics (Braintree, Mass.), a global blood management company. Anderson graduated from Western New England University (Springfield, Mass.) with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering.
