Vermont Governor Phil Scott Visits Mack Headquarters
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, Mack was pleased to host Vermont Governor Phil Scott at the Company’s Headquarters in Arlington, Vt.
Gov. Scott toured the plant and discussed manufacturing in Southern Vermont with Mack Molding President Jeff Somple and Mack Group Chief Financial Officer Florence Belnap. The governor was able to meet several employees while he received a first-hand look at the most exciting projects in the finishing area and observed molding operations.
During the visit, Somple highlighted Mack’s recent growth along with capital investments the Company has made to support the increased activity. This includes the placement of the largest molding press in New England at its Cavendish facility, as well as new lasers and a machining center at HQ.
Somple also emphasized the work Mack is doing to ensure it not only has the capacity, but also the talent, to meet the needs of its customers. He discussed the importance of internal training focused on giving employees the tools they need to be successful, as well as the rewards of a robust internship program that has seen 14 former students joining the Company full-time following in the past two years.
“Hosting Governor Scott was tremendous honor and huge opportunity to show how hard working the people of Southern Vermont are,” Somple said. “Mack continues to be successful, thanks to our wonderful customers, industrious employees and supportive community, but doing business in Vermont requires partnerships. As a former business owner, the governor is keenly aware of this. From showing our young residents why it pays to stay in Vermont to supporting initiatives that benefit the state’s industries, we were excited for the opportunity to share our thoughts and success with Gov. Scott.”
